All You Need to Know About the RCCG Logo
In 1952, Pa Akindayomi founded the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). During the same period, he also opened its first branch at Ebute Metta, Lagos.
After some years, the founder died but the church became one of the popular ministries in Nigeria. It also has branches across in foreign countries. Overall, you can find an RCCG church in 30,000 locations.
Since its birth, the church has a list of objectives. First, it plans to open a branch (within 5 minutes walking distance) in every urban area across the world. It also wants to have an RCCG member in every family in these locations.
Since the church has a distinct logo, you can identify any of its branches. Looking at the symbol, you will find a white dove on a blue circle while red bands surround this setup. If you read this post, you will understand these elements.
What Does the RCCG Logo Mean?
Now let’s look at the Redeemed Christian Church logo and explain the elements. We will also show you the biblical references of each symbol.
White Dove
When you study the RCCG logo, a white dove with outstretched wings catches your attention. On the logo, it represents the Holy Spirit – the third person in the Holy Trinity. References that back up this reference includes Matthew 3.16, 2 Peter 1.21 and Luke 3.22, Acts 1.8 and John 1.32.
Blue Circle
This item represents the love described in 1 John 4:7-21. If you are not familiar with this text, it talks about agape love. It’s also described as the perfect form of affection that everybody should share.
Red Bands
Two red bands surround the blue circle of the RCCG logo. Here they symbolize the blood of Jesus which plays the following role in Christianity.
- Restoration of fellowship with God (Exodus 12:13; Romans 5:8-9)
- Allows believers to appear before God (Hebrews 10: 9-22)
- Freedom from spiritual slavery (Ephesians 1:7, 1 Corinthians 16:20)
- Cleanses guilt (Hebrews 9:14)
- Protects believers from the attacks by the Devil (Romans 8:31-34)
- Sanctifies the heart ((Hebrews 13:12)
- Brings Man to God ((Colossians 1:20-22)
- Perfects the state of man in the sight of God (Hebrews 10:14)
White Background
Denotes consecration, purity, and holiness which come as conditions for meeting the objectives of the ministry. To show this attribute, the church logo shows the “Absolutely Holiness shall be our lifestyle.”
Biblical references that support this element include Exodus 28:31-36, 1 Chronicle 16:29-31, Psalms 29:1-4, 93:5, 110: 1-3, and Isaiah 35:8-10. You can also find other references in Obadiah 1:17, Romans 6:20-23, 2Corinthians 6:11-18 and 2Corinthians 7:1.
Green Coloured Elements
On the logo, you will find green letters and symbols on the white background. Here, the colour denotes fertility and the church uses Genesis 1.22, 27-28, Colossians 1.10, Genesis 49.22, Isaiah 32.16 and Exodus 1.7 to support this fact.
